So you’re getting married and decided to have a bachelorette party. Now what? You’ve seen the movies and heard legendary stories of what goes on at said parties. But what people don’t tell you is how to have a successful bachelorette party that you actually enjoy. So out of respect for all brides-to-be and the honorary tradition, I’ve concocted a realistic guide to how to have a fun bachelorette party tailored to you, the bride.
- Make it known that this is YOUR party. You don’t need to worry about making everyone else happy. This is your time to shine. The party is for you, nobody else. Go where you want to go. Do what you want to do. See what you want to see. You’re not being selfish; so get that out of your mind. And don’t let anybody else try to steal your spotlight because that’s just a bitchy thing to do.
- Only take a group that you know will genuinely get along the entire time. The last thing you need is drama the entire trip or people faking being nice to one another just to please you. That gets old real quick. Ask people who are fun, nice, and will make it all about celebrating you.
- Pick a place that you actually want to go to, not just feel obligated to go to. Yes, Vegas and New Orleans may be fun and the #1 destination for a lot of brides. But if you prefer a nice beach in California or skiing the slopes in Colorado, don’t choose a location based solely off of what other people do or what you think your friends want. It’s your party. Go where you want to go.
- Tell your friends what you expect out of the trip beforehand. If you want to be that extra bitch that you see in the movies, tell them to pack all the penis decorations and glittery clothing items they can find. If you want to keep it PG, let them know strip clubs aren’t the places you want to be found and eating good food is more important to you than cheap tequila shots. Whatever your style is, make sure they understand before you begin your trip.
- Keep your fiancé filled in on what you have planned if you can. You don’t want him to find out your friends set you up with a private stripper if he is the jealous type. It’s not like you have to tell him every single detail, but you should let him know some of what is happening on your trip. That also goes for his bachelor party… His happy ass better fill you in on everything that might piss you off.
- The most important rule of all is to HAVE FUN. You’ve waited your whole life for this moment. Don’t let minor details ruin it for you. Have the time of your life! You deserve it.
